This is to say a very big ‘Thank You’ for helping me pick up the pieces of my life and to put them back together again and then for giving me the tools with which to cope in the future. For showing me that none of my problems are in fact insurmountable with thought, goodwill and honesty.
It was quite an eye opener having to look at myself and my behaviour and to understand that I had allowed alcohol to take over my life and that I had joined the alcoholic’s cycle but more importantly, that it was perfectly possible to get off. You also showed me that the alcoholic’s behaviour is his responsibility and I have no authority over any life except my own – so no more Mr Fix it or Carer! So here I am, one day at a time and having understood as a wise person once said, “It is only possible to be happy ever after on a day to day basis.
We are extremely fortunate to have an organisation such as Family and Friends Support Service and Inclusion. I owe you a huge debt of gratitude.
